So here we go - Whole Wheat Waffle Sticks
Here's the batter and the first batch cooking. Clearly I overfilled the waffle stick maker. Yes, I have a waffle stick maker. Yes, it is awesome.
Here's the first batch cooling. I split these up into two sets of four, wrapped 'em up, and froze them. This morning I ate them with frozen mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries) and a tablespoon of light syrup. Here it is at it's yummiest.
(Ignore the icky paper plate. I forgot to run the dishwasher last night and all my plates were dirty.)I also made some Acorn Squash Seeds this morning (I didn't have any pumpkin seeds. I dropped the ball.), but they didn't turn out so great. I used Caitlin's Sugar and Spice Pumpkin seeds recipe, but I forgot to account for the fact that I had WAY less seeds and used much too much cinnamon and sugar. They're yummy, but they're not great.
Well, there will be more later. Definitely a bagel making post if I get to that today (which I REALLY want to!) For now I'm off to Target, Jewel, and the Entenmann's outlet store. More later!

Looks delish, and yse, I stil want that whole wheat everything bagel recipe! I never knew they had special machines to do waffle sticks. I have a waffle machine I got for my wedding shower, but I think I've only used it once.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love the Entermann's outlet store, though it is kind of evil (all those cakes and cookies for cheap!) but usually I get away with just buying English muffins. Usually.
I'm hoping to make the bagels this weekend. It's just SUCH a lengthy process it has to be done on a Saturday or Sunday. It will happen though!
ReplyDeleteI love making waffles! My parent's have one of those professional grade Belguim waffle makers -the kind they have at hotels where you pour the batter in, flip it over and then hit the timer button and it cooks for like 3 minutes. It's seriously the best thing ever!
I'm usually pretty good at avoiding the temptations of the Entermann's outlet. I would honestly much rather have a homemade cookie than something store bought anyway. Occassionally the donuts tempt me, but I usually just get-in, get-out, no browsing. Seriously though, I can get a package of sandwich thins for $1 - 2 there; how could I pass that up!?
